IRAS Retreat (now called Conclave) has commenced today in Goa and what a contrast from the earlier Retreat in 2002! Last time, the IRAS Times was used
intensively for spreading news about the Retreat among IRASians. To ensure that there was as wide and as democratic a representation as possible, competitions
were held through this very Message Board and the winners were invited for the event.
This time, except for a bare announcement about the venue of the Retreat (which is also exasperating since it is a scrolling announcement and as such takes ages to read) there has been no mention about the event on this website. All in all, this further reinforces my belief that the IRAS Times is a pale shadow of its former self, with IRASians who matter not giving it the importance it deserves. A far cry from the days of yore, when Bhatnagar Sir took personal interest in uploading the news and happenings on this website. Even the posting & transfer orders are scanned and uploaded resulting occasionally in matter which is not legible. The earlier system of typing of the text of the orders with month-wise pages was definitely superior.
Meanwhile, the 'Platinum Man' is retiring from service this month. Bhatnagar Sir, we appreciate your immense contribution to IRAS (including IRAS Times and IRAS Platinum Jubilee Celebrations) and hope you would continue to contribute to this forum even after you leave Railways.
