To be fair to all concerned, I guess, we are trying to see devils where they do not exist. In a way, it's more in the nature of a statement of fact. Our system does not lack in leadership. But then someone rightly put oursystem as one that is excellently geared towards fire fighting. History would tell us that many great leaders many a time lost sight of a bigger goal in the process of fire fighting. The leadership that is being talked about here is that of the top most level. To my mind, it does not demean in any way the leadership qualities of Railway Officers. What the top most leadership has achieved is only through feedback received from insiders. But then "ghar ki murgi was always daal baraabar." At the same time it must also be borne in mind that whatever one achieves in a shorter term may not necessarily translate to a gain in the longer term. Only time can clarify such issues. |

I agree with Subbu. And above all, the interview is for general public and for us to discuss, we receive orders separately from Board on the similar issues.

Subbu is bang on. We are basically recruited to lead and it is the quality of leadership which differentiates one officer from the other. Whatever difference
we make in our offices can be attributed to our leadership (at least at JAG & above level).
