Rlys moots zonal offices
FOR more operational efficiency, the railway ministry plans to introduce four zonal offices to improve co-ordination between functioning of a cluster of railway divisions and the Railway Board. This is being done to maximise operational efficiency in passenger and freight movement. An announcement to this effect is likely to be made in the 2007-08 Rail-Budget. The Railway Board and the railway ministry are working on the possibility of introducing four new offices of Director General of Operations (DGOperations) for the north, south, east and west regions, senior railways officials told ET on Saturday.
