I may be excused for posting a reply before The Enlightened One did.

The article has conveniently ignored the fact that improved technology brought prices of electronic goods down,whereas the farm sector enjoyed technological progress in bits & pieces-the impact of the green revolution is very limited in extent.On top of it,fragmented holdings pre-empt the usage of superior technologies in tilling (like utilizing a tractor). Well -intentioned schemes like co-operative farming...

The latest from FROA on 6th pay commission is that "FROA has been invited to submit oral evidences" and no further updates after 2nd April 2007

to hell with serice conduct rules. i guess mr abhinav kumar has made an apt point. it seems the IPS guys have already made a group mail where they discuss the 'disparity' issue. they intend to make their intentions clear to the government. god knows what FROA does.

Telling truth by writing articles in newspaper is not always possible for a government servant.

If the author of the article is so much dissatisfied with the service conditions (including revised pay) of IPS, age is in his favour. The option of quitting government service and joining private sector is not closed for him.

Every pay commission includes a member of IAS.That is the strength of service known as IAS.

you would recall the story of the "emperor with no clothes". well, the guy who said that the emperor had no clothes was definitely breaking conduct rules - recall that no other courtier in the emperor's court had said that he had no clothes on- but we remember the guy for telling the truth.

for some of the guys in the ips the story is even worse. not too long ago, several people used to opt for ips forsaking ias (sarfarosh -amir khan- is one...

Following highlights on 6 CPC
1. Corporatisation of IR
2. Bungalow peon abolished
3. Opening up of 20 % SAG and above posts for people outside department- implying DRM, GM, CRB would be IAS
4. general deputation scheme though made more open and encouraging to technical services, yet overall still targeted for IAS

Probably Railway officers dont stand to gain much. What do members think on the implications of the above.

what will be the outcome of 6th central pay commsion by this month end
1.will the hike in pay be double/treble?
2.how will the salary increase affect operating ratio of i.r?
3.how will performance be assessed for all i-r employees in reasonable fashion and increase productivity
4.will govt gain anything
5.will passengers be benefited as a result
6.will 5th pay commsion anomalies be rectified
