PrideOfMatchingham, Buddha, Freefall, Commlmanager, BP and many others who used to write under pseudonyms have all vanished. Some were hounded out, others seem to have simply quit a la Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. Almost all were a delight to read and exhibited qualities of great thinkers. If they are anywhere near, a very happy new year to them and to all other colleagues.

Bihar Flood situation

It seems everybody is down playing the issue. Other Indian States are not forthcoming with help. Rich states like AP/TN/Punjab are keeping low. Ministries of Central government are not forthcoming the their contribution. There is no official order to contribute from salary. You cannot leave Bihar just like that with just 1000 crores from PM. It needs more help.

Some time back, two of the SG officers of WCR got promoted to SAG. Also, one of the vacant posts in SAG got filled up. As a result, at the time of according farewell to the two outgoing officers (they came back after joining in their respective zones), there were five FA&CAOs on the dias.

This got me thinking - What is a group of FA&CAOs called?? We all know about prides and schools and gaggles and parliaments, but what about a bunch of FAs.

Most of the 1996 batch joined service on 4th Sept'97 and got JAG w.e.f. 20th Jan'08. A monstrous delay.

In one of my earlier posts I had mentioned how this delay is hurting us vis-a-vis our colleagues. But the true impact is being felt now - after the 6th PC. The loss to each one of us is pretty big.

So who is responsible?? Somebody is - if not deliberately then due to pure lethargy.

Anyway, nothing can be done now, except that the loss can be partly made...

Its a wonderful news that 97anad 98 batches have got their confirmation in a gap of two days. It did call for lot of efforts from DF/CCA, FC and other Board Officials. I am not qualified, but still I take this forum to thank FC and all other seniors at Board.

The foundation course at Mussorie should not be done away as it is one of the good components of training. It provides a unique opportunity to meet stalwarts in all fields of activity and interact with them. It's a well organized course with interaction with officers of all services. The trek, village visit, and organization of various events help in over all personality development.

This certainly is good news for IRAS that Mrs Sowmya Raghavan has been appointed as GM, Central Railway. Congratulations, madam. One wishes that the floodgate is opened for once and for all. More and more IRAS officers should get posted as General Managers in open line. That too in important Zonal Railways like Central Railway.

Through this forum, I would like to draw the attention of authorities concerned to the fact that 1996 bath of IRAS is still awaiting JAG confirmation.The following facts may also be considered:
1. 1996 batch of almost all other departments has been confirmed, including Stores and Medical.
2. Our batch has already completed more than 10 years of service.
3. Most of us have put in over 4 years in ad-hoc JAG.

This inaction is now beginning to hurt, and thus i was forced to use...

would it not be better if the CEO is permitted/allowed to select the CFO for his organization? with the present emphasis on delivery as compared to mere rule adherence, the avoidable conflict between the CEO and executive part of his team can be avoided with the CEO "choosing" his CFO from a pre-selected list of probable CFOs for his organization.
